Everyone has opinions about Oprah Winfrey. Some people like her and some don’t. Some people say she has no principles and believes everything - even if they contradict. Some people rest and live their lives on every word she says. I guess being a single, African-American woman with billions of dollars at your disposal makes your opinion seem really important.
Like it or not, our celebrity-conscious society makes this phenomena a reality. If you have money (and a lot of it) your opinions matter more than anyone else’s. So when Oprah speaks, people listen. Her recommendations have made many people rich - all because she endorsed them. How’s that for power?!
Why do I bring this up?
Because a few months ago, during the Christmas shopping season, Oprah announced a new gadget she had fallen in love with. On her TV show she baited the audience telling them she would announce her favorite “toy”, so to speak, and kept going to commercials. Finally at the end of the show she told everyone her favorite gadget was a Kindle.
A Kindle? Yes, A Kindle. “Well, what’s a Kindle?” you may ask.
The Kindle is an electronic ebook reader sold by Amazon. It is the size of a small paperback book, but lighter. It stores hundreds of ebooks that are all downloaded from Amazon’s Kindle Store to the Kindle reader.
Now because Oprah recommended this, the sales for Kindle went through the roof. A lot of people went out and bought these Kindles. And ebook sales went through the roof, too.
And that’s where you and I come in.
Because you and I are in Internet marketing, its important that we seize upon the opportunities in front of us. Oprah, whether you like her or not, has generated millions of targeted traffic to Amazon. What you and I need to do is get in front of that traffic and earn some “set-and-forget” income.
