What’s my feeling about Huey Lee’s Simple Niche Websites? Well, unless you don’t have a problem with being unethical and pretending to be someone you’re not, then go right ahead. But, if you have some sense of being ethical and honest, I wouldn’t waste my time or money.
I lost money because Huey wasn’t being upfront. And I’m surprised because Huey usually puts out good products.
Let me explain.
I ordered the *free website* from Huey at SimpleNicheWebsites.com. What I discovered immediately after submitting my contact information (or “Registering” as they say) is that I had to buy hosting. No problem because every website needs hosting. That’s just a normal cost of doing business online. I could live with that.
But I had to use THEIR hosting company, even if I had one already. Huey’s site said in bold letters - NO EXCEPTIONS!
So I said, “OK. What’s another few bucks out of my pocket since I’m going to be making more than enough profit?”
Now their site says the hosting is only $5.95/month. Well, that’s not entirely true because the hosting company will not let you start at $5.95 a month. They want a full year’s fees upfront - $71.40. So yes, if you divide the $71.40 by 12 months you get $5.95 per month, but Huey’s website is purposely misleading in this area.
I pay the $71.40 because I have it and I get a “free” domain, too. (Notice I have the word “free” in quotes. You’ll see why that isn’t true later.)
Now here’s the part that made me upset because it lacks true ethics and honesty. My website is installed by Huey’s programmers and I get the ads that I’m supposed to use to advertise this new “Dating Guide” website.
The ads have you pretending to be a woman named “Crystal” and you are placing these ads in the Personals section of classified sites like Craigslist and others. The ads are designed to have men emailing you and asking more about “you” as “Crystal”
Then you’re supposed to email them back and basically say, “If you want to know more about me, buy this Dating Guide book and learn what kind of man I’m looking for and maybe we can get together.”
After I read that I said, “What?! You’ve got to be kidding me!! What kind of crap is this?!”
If you haven’t figured out what made me mad, then let me spell it out for you.
1. I’m a man. I am not a woman and don’t want to be. I am not going to pretend to be some woman named “Crystal” who is half my age just to make a few bucks. Now I know there is a fringe society of men out there who are like that - but that’s not me!
2. So let’s say (God forbid) I don’t have a problem pretending to be a woman - now what? What’s happens when Joe Blow decides to buy the “Dating Guide” book and then wants to meet (me) as Crystal? We have a big problem!
3. What if Joe Blow discovers he’s been lied to and gets so angry he wants to find me for deceiving him into buying a book he didn’t want AND pretending to be a woman I’m not? We have a big problem!
4. What if Joe Blow is a serial rapist (I know I’m being extreme, but in today’s society anything is possible) and he finds out where I live? Remember, he’s mad because he bought a book to find a woman. It turns out the woman is not REALLY a woman. His testosterone is flying high and he’s mentally unstable because he’s a serial rapist. We have a big problem!
And all of this because we told a “little white lie.” (It’s really a big FAT lie!)
Ok, I’m done with that crazy scenario, but there’s more I’m mad about.
So after I get over being mad for a moment, I decide to cancel my hosting and get my money back. Well, the hosting company had no problem in cancelling my account and refunding my money, yet they had one caveat - they charge a $20 fee for registering the domain and its non-refundable.
What?! Yes, non-refundable. It says it in their Terms and Conditions. You know, the part no one ever reads when they buy something.
So instead of me getting my $71.40 back, I’m only going to get $51.40 back. Their website said the domain was “free” when I bought the hosting. Another lie.
So now I’m out $20. Now it’s not the money because I can get by with losing $20. It’s the principle of it all. Lies, lies, lies and more lies.
I have emailed Huey Lee a number of times asking for my $20 (since I feel he and his company misled me) but I haven’t heard back from him/them.
Like I said earlier, I’m really surprised by Huey because he usually puts out good stuff.
Tell me what you think. I would love to hear it.

Sounds like a bunch of crap to me. You should optimize a couple articles and submit them to the article sites. Slam that twisted dude.

Thanks Crystal…………………..you saved me a bunch of headaches because I was seriously considering trying this.

William,
Were you being sarcastic by calling me “Crystal?” Funny!

Thanks so much for this post. I know that nothing is really free and I hate when someone doesn’t just tell me up front what the cost is for something.

I knew it was just another species of feces, great review!

Yes admin…………..
Your post was great and I couldn’t pass up on “Crystal.”

I agree completely.
I resented having to pay this upfront fee, but the approach seems simple. I followed instructions.
However, Craigslist knocked me back. Here is their reply:
This posting is being blocked: Blocking Code 5183886
Common reasons include:
a.. Essentially the same item has been posted to multiple cities or
categories, or more than once in 48 hours
b.. Post contains a link or URL to a commercial website or auction
c.. Personal ad appears to contain a phone #, email address, or URL
This is not supposed to happen!!!
Since I got that reply, I have been sending off emails without response to the contact point, and getting angrier with Huey Lee with each passing day. Lee and his henchman must be getting deluged with complaints and is going to ground.
I hold my head in my hands, saying ‘not ANOTHER failure!!!’
All this is apart from the unethical approach of impersonation. The advertising would be illegal in my country and in some US states.
Huey has sold his reputation for a song. I predict he will be gone in a year.

Chris,
This is why I am a big stickler on finding people who are ethical and above board. Some times the products and services are good but the people behind them are so greedy and immoral that they mess up a good thing.
That’s why I’m thankful I found Terry Dean. He is definitely at “guru status” but he is an ethical Christian who has succeeded in the online industry to the tune of millions of dollars. I just bought his latest resource on Christian Financial Freedom. I highly recommend everyone to get it today. You can read this post about it on my blog:

too late the hero!
just joined huey (confucius landed me - being asian myself! the relatively low cost was also a plus since i’m a penny-pinching newbie)and was going for my “free” dating site (with trepidation since i’m a full-fledged senior citizen but not a dom by any stretch!) when the sign-up button for web hosting came up with an “error - not found” message. you succeeded in shutting that down? now i’ll have to console myself with skip’s picks #5 (which appears to be truly free) and #2 (appealing to this bookworm). which else of huey’s other honest products do you recommend?
i have a slight problem with looking before leaping
anyway, better late than later; and thanks for your site.
