Make Money by selling a link in a forum signature is not a dream but a new business.
Every time you answer a thread in a forum or open a new thread, you are allowed (not in all forums) to leave a signature. By doing so you’re not only getting backlinks to the websites you add to your signature but also direct traffic from people that click on the links. Just imagine you reply to 2,000 posts, this would mean that all the links in your signature would be on 2,000 different forum pages.
Leaving links in a signature is thought to get visitors to the websites you list there instead of backlinks. On high traffic forums these links can bring a fair amount of visitors and that’s why people started to sell a “spot” in their signature for a monthly fee. How much is a signature link worth?
Basically it depends on the number of posts and also if you’re an active user or not (how many posts you make each day). People start to sell their signature after they have reached 400-500 posts and the prices starts at 5$/month. The more posts you write, the more you will be able to charge for each signature link.
With 1,000 posts you can already charge 25$/month for each link. A signature space on Digitalpoint is big enough to insert 4-5 websites so that would be 125$ each month just by doing something that you would do anyway (posting in forums).
The prices start to become incredibly high once you reach 5,000-10,000 posts. Recently I’ve seen a discussion about someone selling 1 link for 80$/month. This seller had more than 6,000 posts and he succeeded in selling all the spots.
There is also a very curious website that became a marketplace for signature links and that features a free tool that calculates the price of a link in a signature based on the total number of posts and posts/day. Yes it is. Every time the signature in a forum like Digitalpoint is changed, it will be changed in all the posts the author made. If you buy a signature from a forum member with 5,000 posts in different threads, your link will be posted on 5,000 different pages. How long do I need to work before I can sell signature links?
Posting in forums should not be considered work. When you’re going to register to a forum it should be because you’re interested in it’s topics and you want to share your knowledge with other forum members. Just start to post in threads you are interested in and you will see that it’s easy to reach 400-500 posts and start selling signature links.
How much money can you make?
Selling links in your signature won’t bring you the big money but why not earn 100-500$ every month for doing something that you like and that you would do anyway.
Also, if you wanted to push yourself - you could join 4-5 forums. Doing this would multiply your earnings.
Once you get to a decent post count in each one (TIP: Copy and paste your posts in each forum to make building your post count easier) you would be in a position to sell your links for up to $80 which multiplied by 20 would be a monthly income of $1,600.
Not bad for chatting with people in your spare time!

Great post, very useful information. I didn’t know people were actually selling their forum signature space. I am familiar with the idea of using your own forum signature to link to your own websites, but I’m astounded that forum signature links are worth money now!
One note, it might be useful to point out how to find the Link Sales Forum on digitalpoint. You first select “Buy, Sell, Trade” from the main forum, and then select “Link Sales” I had a bit of a problem finding it at first and the forum search feature wasn’t helping haha.
Posted my link on my comment as well, I operate a similar style website as this one. Us legitimate people have to stick together, too much SPAM out there.

I personally don’t have any problems with people selling signature space. But forums hate it and it’s against their terms.
I just wish someone came out with a service that compensated both the forum owner and the posters 50-50 for space sold. Everyone’s a winner there!
